What is Aadhar Document Update?

In order to close all the fake/bogus Aadhar cards central government has introduced a new system. From 2010 to 2016 Aadhar cards has issued without any documents. By using this loop many fake Aadhar cards have been generated so from now onwards citizens who has not updated proper address or name or any type of Aadhar update once in a last 10 years will be closed or inactive.

Ways of document update in Aadhar:

There are two ways for document update

Aadhar Document Update Process in Self Login Portal

  • Click on the link below so that you will be redirected to self login page
  • Click on login and enter your 12 digit Aadhar card number, enter the captcha displayed below and click on send OTP.
  • An OTP will be send to your registered mobile number in Aadhar card.
  • In order to update Proof of identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) click on document update option.
  • You can find complete information in "Objective of Document Update Service".
  • Details in POI and POA should be matched,
  • Read all the details carefully and click on next button.
  • Now you will be redirected to "HOW IT WILL WORKS" page.
  • In this page it shows in three different type of steps to update.
  • Click on next and you will be redirected to verification page.
  • Here you can see your name, gender, date of birth, address you have to cross check all the details.
  • Now click on check box placed beside "I verify that above details are correct" 
  • Now we have to upload supporting documents (document should be less than 2MB and in JPEG, PNG or PDF format only".
  • After uploading documents you will get a pop "Please confirm your demographic details in the documents exactly matches to the demographic details in Aadhar".
  • Now click on check box placed beside the :I hereby confirm that i have read and understand the payment cancellation refund process"
  • Click on make payment. 
  • Now click on submit and download the receipt.
  • You can find URN number in the receipt.
  • You can check status of your application by using the number.
Process to update Aadhar documentation in Aadhar seva kendra:

It is completely offline process. We have to fill application form with supported documents attached to it and submit to the officer.

Who should update Aadhar document?

Citizen who did not update his/her Aadhar at least once in last 10 years has to do this Aadhar documentation.

Difference between Aadhar biometric update and Aadhar document update:

Aadhar document update and Aadhar biometric update are completely different. Biometric update is to update iris or finger or face for authentication purpose. Aadhar document update will update all documents and make your Aadhar card in active status and duplicate number is not allowed.

How to know when my Aadhar is generated?

You can find Aadhar generated date on left hand side of your Aadhar card.
